MLB Betting Odds & Probable Starting Pitchers
St. Louis Cardinals (Adam Wainwright) -140
Chicago Cubs (Travis Wood) +130
Total: Off

The young pitching staff for the Cubs really has been solid these last two times around the rotation, and the unit will hope to finish up with a big time start from LHP Travis Wood on Saturday. Wood is one of these guys who has the splits of a man who should be a 12-game winner pitching in the All-Star Game. Instead, the southpaw is just 6-6 and has led his team to just a 7-11 record thus far this year in spite of his 2.69 ERA. Inevitably, the luck is going to have to swing in his way, and it might be due to happen against RHP Adam Wainwright. There aren?t many pitchers in the bigs with 9.00 K/BB ratios, but that?s what Wainwright is working with. Unfortunately for him, he?s also working with a 4.50 ERA in his career against the Cubs. St. Louis has the better of these teams for sure, but this has been a great series for Chicago?s pitchers. The Cards are only batting .221 in this series, and they have been devastatingly bad with runners in scoring position, particularly with two outs. Wood will pitch his way out of some jams on Sunday, and the Cubbies will go into the break feeling relatively good about the way that they finished up the first half of the campaign.

Cardinals @ Cubs Pick: Chicago Cubs +130
Cardinals @ Cubs Score Prediction: Cubs 5 ? Cardinals 3
