President Mukherjee signs food security ordinance into law

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee today signed the food security ordinance into law.

Earlier in the week, the government had signed the Rs 1.25 lakh crore welfare scheme to give cheap food to a majority of the country's population.

The bill is widely being seen as a scheme that has been planned as a centre-piece of the ruling Congress party's plan to win a third term in power.
