Expands social game portfolio with new anime-inspired fighting title
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ ? Gaia Interactive, one of the world?s most active social gaming communities, today announced the official launch of Soul Crash ? an anime-inspired action role-playing game (RPG) on Facebook. The game has seen steady growth since its debut in late February, underpinning the hunger for fighting games on the social network. Soul Crash is Gaia?s first entry into the game publishing business, working with leading Korean game developer PlayPlus to bring the anime-inspired, fighting title to Facebook?s 800 million plus users. Gaia takes an active role in its publishing approach, offering services beyond marketing and community management. Gaia was deeply involved in the game development process, leveraging its expertise from the hit Monster Galaxy to provide feature, design and monetization direction for Soul Crash, and owning technical operations, QA, and analytics.

?Gaia is passionate about bringing innovative, fun games to users no matter what platform they choose to play in,? said Mike Sego, CEO of Gaia Interactive. ?With the success of Monster Galaxy on Facebook, we?ve proven that there is a strong appetite for new types of browser based games ? games that inspire an emotional connection with their players through a storyline, unique characters and creative visuals. In order to rapidly address the market, finding partners that share the same vision is crucial. We?re excited to be working with PlayPlus and look forward to bringing more social and mobile games to market ? developed both internally and in collaboration with great partners.?
Soul Crash brings the same extraordinary quality of artwork inherent to Gaia games to Facebook. Players customize a character and play through a series of action-packed battles to regain their lost memory and prove their combat dominance. The core gameplay takes place in three-on-three tag-team battle sequences. Gamers can play with Facebook friends, use them as allies or fight against them to hone their own skills. Between battles, players can also buy new equipment and enchant weapons to assist in future combat. An online leaderboard and upcoming tournament system makes the gaming more fun by competing with friends and players worldwide to see who can stay on top.
?Soul Crash presents a unique game play that we haven?t yet seen on Facebook,? said Lex Chulki Choi, CEO, PlayPlus. ?We?re very happy that Gaia saw its potential and helped us develop it into the full, action role-playing social game that it is today.
